I know, what a time to get into it ! But don't worry there is never a better time. Things are slow and will pick up. Sounds like she wants to be an agent. I am an investor. I have done pretty well and can advise along those lines but for her (if she does want to be an agent) the big companies have training. Colleges also can train you.
Right now the Commercial side is hot like residential was a year ago so she would do well right away if that is her choice.
If she wants to invest in Commercial she can e-mail me and I can help

What state are you in? Each state has different requirements. For instance in FL, you can go through college and get a real estate degree and automatically get a real estate license.

The most common way everyone else does it is go through a class, pass the class exam, pass the board exam, then get hired by a broker.

As a starting real estate agent, you will not get a lot of money and you're basis for income is totally on sales...in this market, it won't be much.

For Christmas, buy your daughter a real estate investing book, another avenue that doesn't require a real estate license. See below.

Just buy the state manual, study it, take the test and get a license. Once you have the license get some of the legal forms you need, open a bank account where you can deposit escrow money, and get some signs and cards. That is all there is to it.

With the housing bubble about to blow up I don't this is a good field to get into right now. Investigate this yourself.
