I had to go through this with both of my sons. Though it may sound a bit cruel, you need to get him lying down and then straddle his upper body, so his arms are pinned down and his shoulders are between your knees (don't put any weight on his chest!). You are only restraining him, not hurting him. Then lean over him, using your forearms to hold his head still and use the fingers of one hand to gently open the inside corner of his eye or pull down slightly on the lower eyelid. Place the drops in and then allow his eye to close, but do not let him go yet. Hold him still for ten seconds or so to let the drop get all around in the eye, because he's going to wipe at his eyes as soon as you let him loose.

I learned this from a sister-in-law who was a pediatric nurse, and you know they have no time for fooling around when it's time to give medications! They just go in and get the job done! The child will not sit still no matter what, since it's instinctual to try to keep things out of your eyes, so you do have to restrain him.

I had this problem, and when I took my child to the eye Dr. he said don't even bother trying to open the eye, just drop the eye drop in the corner of the eye, when child opens eye, the medicine drops right in, it works well. Dr. said that was the best way to put drops in for anyone.
You still get a little fussing from it, but trying to restrain a child is hopeless.

Bribe him!! With something small of direction. i understand i could sound like a mom that provides in - even nonetheless scuffling with will no longer get the drops in and he desires them. What I used to do is tell them what they are going to get (like a candy bar) and then lay them on the floor and tell them to relax with their eyes closed. Then place the attention drops in the corner of his eyes (close to the tear ducts) and then tell him to open huge. the attention drops will slide suitable in!!! Then there is likewise the terror of "in case you don't get those eye drops then we can ought to circulate to the scientific institution"!!!!! that usually labored for my young ones.

Put them in while he is sleeping. Depending on how many times a day he needs them. Put them in once when he first goes to bed and then again in the middle of the night. I have done this with all of my kids and it avoids the drama of them screaming and running away and my feeling crazy.

You don't actually have to have your eyes open...it sounds weird. But just aim for the corner, whatever touches his eyelashed will get into his eye once he starts blinking.
