2X + nO2 ==> 2 X2On (n is the valence of X)
2mol nmol
15.3 /M 0.425 mol

X = 27 => X is alumium
Al + 3 / 4 O2 ===> 1/2 Al2O3
one mol of Al will react with 3/4 moles of Oxygen
the simplest formula is Al2O3

X Oxygen
mass(g) 15.3 13.6
no of moles .. mass/molar mass

no of moles 15.3/27 13.6/16
0.57 0.85

divide by 0.57/0.57 0.85/0.57
the smaller 1 1.5
*2 *2
2 3

2 moles of X combines with 3 moles of oxygen
therefore 1 mole of X will combine with 3/2=1.5 moles of oxygen.
the simplest formula of x oxide is X2O3
