Am I the only one able to see that AMNESTY is a bad idea?

Amnesty is a bad idea. You are so right.

I think what happens is the Democrats need to pad their voting base a little more. They like the thought of having illegals in here because they think that taxpayers should support everyone. I am sick of everyone getting "FREE" medical and dental stuff at MY expense. I can't even afford my own health insurance. Why should I pay for them to have none at all?

I agree with you 100%.Amnesty didn't work in the past, and it will not work now.It only leads to more illegals coming in either hoping for another amnesty or those that are given amnesty will then want to bring more of their family here. Why give a reward to those who have broken our laws? There are many, many people waiting to immigrate to this country legally, what a slap in the face for them to let those who came here the improper way get in without all the hassles that they are going through. We cannot afford to support all these poor people from other countries,we not do enough for our own poor citizens. They are a drain on our society, getting benefits meant for our own citizens.Something has to be done.

I see amnesty as an attempt to compromise.

We know they are here, and we know their children are taking our social services. And we know they are sending their money back home, and living in terrible conditions here to do it.

It is a humane attempt to control the population of illegals.

Are you aware that 300 illegals were just rounded up in Greeley, Colorado (for identity theft) and deported? And their children were allegedly kept here.

because the cost of rounding them all up, trying them, and deporting them would cost far more then you could even imagine.
add that to the problems that it would cause industries that employ them, you are looking at a very bad situation economically.

everyone thinks employers will start hiring Americans, and pay more if we get rid of illegals, but in reality, the illegals will just get back in on Bush's Guest worker program, so you defeated the purpose of actually spending all the tax dollars to round them up in the first place. After that, we'll probably lose more of those jobs to outsourcing, and rather than money at least staying on our continent, it wil be paying salaries overseas.

when you are talking in terms of spending huge sums of tax dollars to just reclassify people as guest workers, causing temporary shortages in the industries the workers have to be retrained, causing price hikes, and quit possibly the chance of losing more positions to other countries, the only people who win are people with businesses that do most of their work in communist countries.

So we can TAX them! They participate in the use of our resources and in the use of our economy. So by granting them amnesty, they now have to pay their price of admission too.

We have allowed so many illegals to come and stay and work here for so long that they have become defacto legal aliens. And deserve amnesty.

Everybody has them working on their lawns, cleaning their houses, building their houses and preparing and serving their food. And we have condoned them being here for decades. Everybody has simply just ignored the law. Them, but us Americans especially. We baited them in with illegal jobs.

So now we entice them with opportunities for decades, look the other way, break the law to hire them, allow them to build lives here, then just decide that it's time to throw them all out?

Actually that won't even stand up in a court of law. Like a common law marriage, they are common law legal aliens and deserve amnesty.

Us Americans bear the responsibility for them being here. We've known that we were awash with illegals and just looked the other way because we liked the cheap labor for decades.

I think we owe them something in return.
