Generally, crocodiles are more slimline and in better shape, depending upon their environment and of course, their diet. Crocodiles have a narrow snout and a more defined tooth pattern, whereas, alligators have a more rigorous, staggered and indefinate tooth pattern. Alligators are commonly "fatter" and weigh more than crocodiles, though, this is very dependant upon the type of species. Some Nile Crocodiles may weigh more than the typical American Alligators, though, Caaman Crocodiles will weigh much less than the typical alligator. So, basically the answer to your question is "Species Dependent" and generally crocodiles are not bigger than alligators.

Yes they are in general, A full sized fully grown salt water croc should be larger than a fully grown Gator.
The largest ever recorded croc, is called Gustave, He is from Burundi & he is a Nile Crocodile. You should google him if you want to see some huge size.

Most are, some aren't. There are 2 species of alligator and (I think) ~16 species of crocodile. For the most part crocs are bigger.

Crocodiles tend to be much larger and more aggresive than alligators. Crocodiles have much broader snouts than alligators.
