yes ... you have to pay the pub bills, that includes water, gas, electricity. transport you have to buy an ez link card, and top up ( recharge) frequently. can use coins also, but troublesome. in bus can use coins, for train ( mrt ) cannot use coins, well can use, but buy in the machine for single trip journey, also troublesome. so strongly recommend you get the ez link card. internet, i dont recommend you to subscribe for one as singapore is already wireless country for free. if you have a wireless device, just connect it to the internet, settings and details to register you can find it at www.ida.gov.sg infocomm development authority are the ones who controls internet here. this free internet islandwide is valid for 3 years. so internet is free. if using desktop, get a wireless/lan card so can access the wireless internet, the price for that is quite cheap only. but please dont compare everything to indian currency, if you did, you will almost have heart attacks every day. singapore is much costlier than living in the usa, can say top ten in the world, also general sales tax for every thing you buy gonna be increased to 7% from 5% after 1 month you come here, ie february. so be prepared for the worst. water you can just drink all tap waters, they have been tested by world health organisation for drinking water standards and quality for human consumption. no need to boil it like in chennai ( india ). so, no problems. also no mosquitoes, so nothing to worry about chikungunya like in india. but yeah, no water stagnation around your home especially your poles where you hang your clothes should be closed and your mud pots should have a drain plate for the water to go out if you keep plants outside your home in the corridor or in the home and also close your western toilet seats when not in use as that also may attract mosquitoes. better avoid fines and you know court summons or maybe even get arrested due to this mosquito reason. of course, its quite very expensive for all these things in singapore.
