They probably replaced the hoses when they replaced the pump and didn't put the spring in the bottom hose when they put it on, so the pump suction collapses the hose.

wish you told us what engine and year. i had a 93 lumina with a 3.1 engine, and it has 2 bleeder valves on it. if you got low on anti freeze and air got in you have to top off the radiator. then open the bleeders until antifreeze comes out. one was on the thermostat housing, and the other was on the pipe that comes out of the top of the water pump. it is important to not have any air in the engine as it could damage the heads, big bucks. hope this helps you, good luck.

Could be:

1) Plugged radiator.
2) loose fan belt.
3) Blown head gasket
4) Cracked head
5) Bad water pump.
6) Low coolant.
7) Faulty cooling fan.
8) Debris in cooling fins.
9) Wrong engine timing
10) Could be a number of things.........

start off by first checking the thermostat and then for a blocked radiator.... go from there.
also, check your hoses and makes sure that they are not being "sucked" closed.

good luck
