is it so they babies can see them when nursing???

That's what I've heard also. Our areolas are larger than our actual nipples (area wise) and the entire area is pigmented so that the nursing newborn can see them easier when it's time for feeding.

On the other hand, they make our boobs look cool, especially when they're perked up, so perhaps Mother Nature has an eye for fashion as well as function!

zactly - the harmones make them even darker during pregnancy for the baby to easily find them!

Ewww....it's just for babies (stupid babies). Then why do men have them? Maybe they're preggie too!
