When you listen song online, the data gets downloaded to temporary location (buffer) and is played. To listen to the song next time, you will again need internet connection.
Please rememeber that listening song online counts your Data usage. Do not get confused with downloads as only file downloads. Downloads includes the total data transfer you have done.
Your ISP will could your data usage based on your downloads, browsing and listening songs online...
