Well, that depends on the circumstances of the party. It's like following the speed limit. If you go with the flow of those around you, you should be fine.
Tip 1: Get the boss drunk first, then you're fine by comparison.
Tip 2: BE SURE TO EAT FIRST or you will definitely be known in the future as "That Drunk Guy." No one wants to be drunk within the first 10 minutes of a party. Eat before you go, & pace yourself.
Tip 3a: If there aren't photos of you doing it, it didn't happen.
Tip 3b: On that note, YOU should volunteer to be the photographer
Tip 4: No shots. Shots are for frat parties, bachelor parties, and 21st birthdays. Not with co-workers.
Tip 5: Beware of lampshades
Tip 6: Keep your pants on and have fun!

you need to make sure you keep eating a little bit at a time to soak up the alcohol, and also make your drink last, and DO NOT PUT IT DOWN at all, and if you do, leave it there, and go gt another one, and watch the person make it, never trust anyone, they could put something in your drink...OK that said
make you drinks last, and or when they get warm, throw them out and get a fresh one, but only have a couple, ( you know yourself and how many you can have ) some people only one other ten...so stay on the low side, even if some people get totally wild, only go so far, and like one person said above, make sure your taking the pictures, and keep your clothes on...( unless you see me there...ha ha..smile)
you can have fun without compromising you or your job
smile
good luck

Not at all unless you are the big boss i have heard tales of people later losing their job due to behavior at office partys remember you still represent your company and it is never a good idea to let your self be seen in a bad light drink in moderation have fun keep your clothes on and don't cuss the boss or his or her spouse out

I would save my drinking for another time. No way would I wanna be drunk around a bunch of people that I have to face 5 days a week. Oh, and, in front of the boss? Nope, no way.

Not drinking at all is the only acceptable thing to do.I can't stand being around drunks & I don't care if it is Christmas.I would rather be sober & know what I'm doing than to be drunk.

You know that time when you puked all over your boss' imported Italian stilettos, well 3 seconds or 1 shot of Tequila before that.

my daughter last year at her fancy shmancy christmas party at the country club was behind the bar serving drinks before the night was over. This year, for the first time in the history of this medical group, they had drink limits. lol.
Go for it.

they stopped letting us have parties when someone threw the pepsi machine in the swimming pool at the motel so the acceptable limit is something short of that
