It all starts with a good well written business plan. If you can show on paper how your particular business idea has the potential to earn money, nobody would have a problem with giving you a loan. So there are 3 things you must establish- 1. A well written plan. 2. A track record of responsible banking and usage of credit. 3. Test market information to show that there are people who have need for the the service or product you will provide.

I agree completely with Joe K, he stated it very well.

As to where to get the cash, you'd take your business plan, proof of equity, market stats etc. and go to your bank for a small business loan. It's not easy, so prepare to grit your teeth and be patient.

Or, there are investors, usually individuals with lots of money, who like to help the small business man get started. But, they will want some control and some of the profit, including a return plus interest of their investment. Also, they usually don't loan small amounts, their interests lie in hundreds of thousands.
