Checking a leak around our chimney six yrs. ago, I fell thru the ceiling and fractured almost every bone in my left foot, now my podiatrist tells me with the abnormal healing, deterioration and arthritis I need two pins and a fusion or plate in the foot, has anyone had this type of rather extensive surgery and was it worth it, the good or bad results, please share your experience with me. Thanks.

It really boils down to the pain and discomfort you currently have. If it is manageable through over the counter ibuprofen then my answer would be to live with it until you cannot. If it severely disrupts your life style and/or pain that is not manageable, have the surgery performed. However, check out the surgeon wisely. Ask around, family, friends, co-workers, church members, etc, to find a good surgeon. The foot is a very complex and needs an excellent surgeon for a good outcome. No matter what, a year or so after the surgery, you will get arthritis back in the foot and will need some type of pain/anti-inflammatory for the rest of your life. Been there, doing that.
