well for german songs, I mostly like pop, but here are some rockier ones:
Rammstein- Amerika, Rosenrot
Die Aerzte- Zu spät
Die toten Hosen- Hier Kommt Alex, Walkampf
Sportfreunde Stiller- Ein Kompliment, 1954,1974,1990,2006/2010 (ok not really rock, but from the same band so I felt compelled to say it
You can search for all of these on you tube. Other bands I like are Wir sind Helden, Juli, Die Prinzen, die fantastischen vier, but those are more pop.

Einstürzende Neubauten (Former East Berlin Industrial rock from early '80s-one of the first bands playing Industrial!)
Atari Teenage Riot sometimes sing in German ( Hardcore-Techno-Punks , noise noise noise!)

Try these by Rammstein - 'Mein Herz Brennt' 'Ich Will' 'Feuer Frei' 'Du Hast' and also 'Augen Auf' by another band i'm not sure of. You should be able to get it on limewire at www.limewire.com

There are good bands like Tocotronic or Die Ãrzte. There is also Die Sterne, but that's probably not what you're looking for.
