Carcass - Corporal Jigsore Quandary
Napalm Death - Plague Rages
Entombed - Crawl
Cannibal Corpse - Pulverized
Suffocation - Jesus Wept
Crowbar - Self Inflicted
Atrocity - Unspoken Names
Brutal Truth - Black Door Mine
Morbid Angel - Domination or God of Emptiness
Gorguts - Hideous Infirmity

Well...you were a little general with the term 'heavy metal' but you'll do alot worse than checking out these songs and their respective albums.

Go for the less well-known stuff, as that's where you'll find the real gems. Here's a few of my faves:

True Belief - Paradise Lost
The Cradle Will Fall - Skyclad
Mouth for War - Pantera
Twin Earth - Monster Magnet
Just One Fix - Ministry
Flower - Soundgarden
Antisocial - Anthrax
Davidian - Machine Head

It's not an exhaustive list. There's loads and loads of top-class metal out there. Get to know some metal fans and you'll discover hundreds of great bands you never heard of.

Depends what "school" of metal you prefer.
I love Iron Maiden's "Blood Brothers"
Metallica's "Enter Sandman"
Megadeth "Symphony Of Destruction"
Wasp "The Idol"
Dream Theatre "Take the Time"
Guns 'n' Roses "November Rain"
Tool "Stinkfist"
Porcupine Tree "Arriving somewhere but not here"

There are just so many brilliant tunes to chose from...

Well it all depends on what type of metal you want, for example if you are looking for Iron Maiden...I'd suggest buying their Number of The Beast album, but if you are looking for Slayer or anything like that..then i can't help..sorry...
