My friend is dialated to a 2 and they have transfered her to bayolr because she had a baby die at 23 weeks and is in high risk. She is now 32 weeks and 2 days and they are giving her breathine to stop contractions. They said if she dialates any more he will be taken via C-section. How big of a chance is it that she will dialate more? she is still having contractions but they are little ones now. Should we head up there to see her or wait? Let me know what you think or your experiances.

I understand I need to be there but all her family and her husband are there and I have a family too. It is a big deal to go there because it is a few hrs away and I have to get babysitter...etc is it wrong to just wait to see???

Your best bet is to wait and see. I had the same thing (early labour) and was given something to stop the contractions which worked for about a week..
By the way, her baby is at a really good age for prematurity....my son was born at 33 weeks and although he had to stay in the NICU for about a month he learned to breastfeed really well and is now a monstrous 2 year old with zero problems.
You could always call the hospital and at least speak to one of her family members who can keep you up to date on her condition.
I wish her well!!

My heat goes out to her other baby. I had a son at 21w3d and he only lived for 3 hours but it was due to me having an incompetent cervix.

In most all cases contractions make you dilate. So if they can get them to stop she could be fine. Tell her to ask for steroid injections to make baby's lungs stronger in case he/she does come. They shouldn't take him C-section unless something is wrong. She can request that her bed be tilted so that her head is to the floor and her feet are toward the sky....this helps keeps everything away from the cervix. She may also want to mention a cerclage....This is where they stitch the cervix closed so baby cant come.

Best of luck to her.

Right now your friend needs you more than ever. I delivered my son @ 30 weeks and he is fine today, after I had a 22 week loss, as well. So I know how your friend feels. She might ask the Dr to give her steroid shots. These will help the baby develop faster. They are given to women who are apt to deliver early. They hurt alot, but they helped my son tremendously. Good Luck!

she can use all the support she can get. Its a scary thing to have to go through what she did last time. she may not dialate more but to have someone there to help keep her calm and distract her from thinking anything bad will help.

It might be a good idea to head up there, just to give emotional support. It sounds like she needs some right now.

She can get on medicaid. I do not see why she might have any disorders getting aid from the state. My ideas and prayers are together with her and her baby. You are a well buddy for short of to aid her.

Go be with your friend...no one can answer the other questions. All pregnancies and births are different.
