why do people say happy christmas its merry christmas do you hear me merry christmas,we dont go around saying merry new year do we no we say happy new year?

Happy Christmas I use in informal situations.... Merry Christmas with older people and in more formal situations.
Often I say "Happy and Prosperous New Year" a better thought I think.

I have always said merry new year, happy Christmas, merry holidays .... Didn't know I was really ticking off anal people ... now I'm pleased. Thank you and have a borderline day.

don't get lost in the delivery of the message; it is the message that counts; when we acknowledge the celebration of the birth of Jesus, call it whatever you want; he doesn't care; shout it from the rooftops , it is crossing your lips and therefore in your heart!!
