He needs a debt/bankruptcy lawyer. These guys are good. They can get him a plan to pay all his creditors in small monthly payments with or without going into bankruptcy. If your friend needs his license for his work he may be able to get it back. The lawyers obviously know that your friend doesn't have much money, and they let him pay their fee in smalll monthly payments. It would be worth his while to go talk to one to dig him out of this hole.

What he will have to do is to pay off what he owes, or call the place and make arrangements to make payments till its paid off. If he dont then there is a good chance that they will garnish his paycheck or he will have to lay it out in jail. But most of the time people will work with you they would rather have their money.

No, if a debt collector got the judgment against him, he should visit www.naca.net and find a consumer attorney in his state, in many cases, free of charge. (Or talk to me. I'll either help him or refer him to someone I know in his state). Debt collectors very often break the law in the way that they try to collect debts and you can sue them to get the judgment vacated.

Your friend needs to see an attorney. Often filing bankruptcy can end the harassment.

If he's that bad off, he probably needs a bankruptcy attorney. If his judgments aren't for taxes, student loans, or fraud, he can probably get a clean slate that way.
