You need to connect the output of a cassette player (like the headphone socket) to an input on your PCs sound card (most likely the microphone socket). Then you can use something like the free Audacity software to make the recording on your PC and edit the files as much as you want:

If you want to convert your cassette song's in to Mp3 then you will have to do the following:
But make it sure that in your computer you have a soft which can convert in to Mp3? or you can download for free I guess.

Settings: Click Control Panel/Click on Sound and Audio device
it will open a window, you will see a Speaker mark, Device Low to High settings under High click that setting(I got Japanese version) a sound panel will be opened

Click on Option/Click on Property/Click Rado button-Recording
Click OK adjust setting. Too much loud will distort the sound keep reasonable.
From Cassette player use a linking lead one end into Cassette player's out put and in the computer In put. Click recording first in computer then play Cassette tape.

Record some then listen and adjust the volume as desired.

If you want complete details then send me mail I will tell you I don't know if you already know some about recording.

put the cassette into any cassette player and link it to your computer using a stereo cable.
then open a sound editing program or any sound recording one ( if you don't have one: click start > all programs > accessories > entertainment > sound recorder) and press record then play the cassette player.
when the song is finished save it and edit it as you like
