I'd rather the detail come from memory NOT the internet. I'm attempting to show my kids that someone other than me did watch the darn cartoon. The internet merely shows that it did exist.

Marigold was his girl, he drove for Gertie Growler, as he was always trying to get her out of debt and save the garage
he NEVER lost a race
It was part of the old "George of the Jungle" show with Super Chicken.
The car was once converted into a zepplin and one race had them driving gigantic tire cars

You're not nuts. Saw it growing up in L.A. & he used to come on with George of the Jungle and Dudley DoRight. Don't remember the names you're asking, but definitely remember Tom.
