52 tests and 80 innings (not out 10 times) . In 79 innings(10 not out - effective 69 innings ) he had 6996 runs. In his last innings , he just needed 4 runs to have an overall average of 100 in Test Cricket ! And as was the wont of luck he was bowled out for a duck by English Bowler . Still his batting average has been unrivalled till date . Imagine if he had played 130 odd tests like Allan Border or Steve Waugh , he might even have scored 20,000 runs !!!.
