Because people don't respect people for who they are, they respect them for how much money they have, what they wear, or what they can do. It's a shame because a lot of really nice, good people are considered "low status" and therefore don't get the respect they deserve.

No person is repected by everyone. This has been true since the beginning of life. You always have uppity people that think their better than anybody. Quote"low status people that blame everyone for all their problems. Assuming what others think about you, your family, and your friends is partly a reflection of what you think of yourself, and what your assumption is on what another person is thinking. Which no-one can truly know. Like in school when you tried to figure out why some people just didn't like-you may never know- it's sad. But you move on. My answer is No-one is truly respected by anyone. but how you act with that knowlege is important.

Because the human being is nothing more than a rational animal, and so being, acts on the basic principle of "wolf packs": Are you of any utility for me and my group or not? If not, see you later... :-)
Easily proved even among low status people: for example the homeless. We do have a spirit ready to be developed toward the God, but 90% make the option to follow the crowd and just take the easy and passive way out. "Only 10% of Nazi Germany were Nazi's", and the rest just went along.

Because not every one has learned to respect.
Nobody is at a low status, because all mankind are the children of God.
If we learn the lesson of mutual respect, we will not see people on the earthly status but on the divine one.
All will learn soon these lessons which are now freely available on the Internet.

Either because we are not seriously taught about equality (or only to patronize the idea)... or because the low people might stink!
That's why they are called "Low"!
Question: Do you consider murderers, child predators, republicans, and oil executives to be of low status?
They are in the headlines alot for being low... do you respect them?

re you looking down your nose, when you become aware of low status? Often the " Junk " thrown out by one, is found and treasured by another. The kingdom come, is cast aside by many, in favor of what the world has for them, yet others of low status, find the keys to the kingdom, and rejoice.

Referring to others as low status implies that you consider yourself to be better than some within our society. That is pretty sorry, friend.

It's the nature of humans (and animals) to have a "pecking order" based on status.

Respect is something that must be earned. It should never be freely given. Ask yourself what have "low status" people done to earn anyone's respect?
I might pity them, and wish to help them... but why should I respect them?

being low is not respectful in society's eyes. Poor people are pretty much scum ( I am saying REALLY poor people, who never have money... and I am saying not even having a quarter to their name ) and some people are so poor they can not function in society.
