No, it's not slavery at all. It's called working for a living to take care of yourself. Kind of like millions of Americans that wake up everyday and go to work to survive. Welfare perpetuates laziness.

I like how you put "Thirteenth Amendment!" after you question. The exclamation point was a nice touch. If a doctor has to pay for some fat slug to lay on their @ss and eat cheetos while watching "Springer" and popping out babies to different fathers every ten months, and the doctor doesn't have a choice in the matter, isn't that a form slavery?

First slaves do not get paid. Second those on welfare have the choice to get a job elsewhere. If you do not want to work for welfare you have the choice to not work and not get welfare. Working for welfare is not any form of slavery. Welfare is a form of socialism.

if you want to take it that way, then I guess... but keep in mind, with this logic, we're all slaves. We have to work to get paid, often times, work waaaay harder than the master (aka boss) who gets all the credit for our sweat.

Yeah, we get paid, but beans compared to their melons...

If I were you, I'd be grateful you're in a country where you GET welfare. In a lot of other countries, you get the street where you have to make your own cardboard box and food? you have to get that out of the garbage can. Oh sure, we have that here too, but at least you get a shot at getting welfare here. In other countries, you don't. There's no such thing as welfare.

And besides, doesn't it feel good to work? I mean, yeah being home is fun, but when you're poor, it's downright boring! At least with a job you get skills that hopefully will get you OUT of welfare and into something where you can afford fun stuff. Know what I mean? And just so you know, I was on welfare but got out quick! That is no life...you'd think free money was great, but it's no life at all...

How is it slavery? They are getting paid, right? Nobody should be rewarded for not working unless they are medically incapapble. So whats wrong with earning a living? I do, and when I didn't earn enough I worked a second job. The welfare system is there for people who need it and aren't capable of working, not people who don't want to work. It is intended as a supplement to income, not to support families by itself.

as a 1/2 of liberal, I think that would be a great program, I have no problem with us helping people who cant help themselves and think its our responsibility to , but I also have no problem with anybody who is able to work and cant find a job, to be able to collect government funds has to do some form of work for the community, whether cleaning up the local streets or park, or donate there time at a hospital or something, we just have to make sure it doesn't turn into people working for private industries because I could see curruption coming from that

NO, if they are on welfare and not disabled, they are lazy thieves and should really face more than having to work for their check
1. Sterilize them so no more loafers are breed
2. Taxpayers canlegally take their organs for transplants
3. If they do a crime on welfare summary execution is the only penalty they can get.

No way, it's called a job.

If that was slavery, then every person working for a living would be considered a slave.

Not only 13 th ammendment but they only get 500.00 per month for a family of four and forced to work for 25-35 hours per week
slave wages.

Jesus said if you get a man to tend your feild pay him a fair wage.

So yes, this is a form of slavery as well as forced labor in prisons
and Hitler loved that as much as the American facists coporate rapists.

No, because someone else had to work to give them that welfare check so why not them work some to help out.
