should we have a ntional theatre for wales |(english speaking) based on the scottish model? as today there are too many disparate theatres claiming ownership of theatre for wales yet delivering nothing.............any thoughts. thanks

Are there many Welsh plays? If not...what you need is a theatre that will also incorporate a new play development centre. This way new plays can be developed in English (or if you really wanted to do this right...in Welsh, protecting your language in the way that many Welsh I have known wanted.) What needs to be done is setting up a company and utilizing one of the existing theatres and changing it into an Official Welsh Theatre. Read Bernard Shaw's Dark Lady of the Sonnets and its prefaces.
