Larissa, I really don't have the answer but I wanted to tell you about my experiences with data recovery. First, it helps to know more details to understand your situation.

But in my data recovery efforts & research, I came across lots of things, I believe Seagate, Western Digital, and some others have data recovery tips on their web sites. And you'll run into others who advertise that service. I have only personal experience.

The several times I have been challenged to recover data, I have been able to do it thru DOS when the hard drive would not boot. I could remove the bad drive and hook it up as a slave on another computer and search its files.

In conclusion, I suggest you just shop around or maybe try hooking it up as a slave and searching with windows explorer to see if it will recognize the files.

Good Luck
