No, mate. Point 1 is that a 'Fish Bowl' is small and round. Okay? So only the area of water surface exposed to the air can allow in the vital oxigen. So you have to fill only half the sphere to provide maximum surface area.

Half a fish bowl? May as well put the occupant in a large coffee mug.

Point 2. If by " Eel " ye mean the bog standard sort of eel? Forget it. They're migratory creatures. Thus, every year, they get this impulse to sod off to the Sargassa - or where ever it is eels go to mate - and do their thing.

Result? Captive eels loose their minds and their health.

If ye really feel the need to keep a regular eel for a bit? Provide as large a tank as ye can (They're relatively dirt cheap) and ensure it has oxigination via a decent pump and filtration set up.

Only for pitys sake let the thing go once it starts getting a bit hyper.

As for the various 'Tropical' eels sold in aquarists shops? I really haven't a clue.

I don't know much about eels, but I do know that any sort of fish will live a longer, healthier, happier life in a real tank with an air filter etc. Consult the people at the place where you plan to buy the eel. They will give you plenty of information and possibly find you a book on eels.

No, because eels can get really big and if you get a round fishbowl for it your eel can die from not being able to breathe or can get very cramped up and then die. So a big tank is the best way to go.

No! As much as an eel will like to coil up and take cover in small spaces. Your tank needs to be at lease one third longer than the length of your eel. This will reduce stress on your eel. A stressed out eel will not eat.

Absolutely not.

In fact a fish bowl is not ok for any fish. All fish require filtration of some sort to live a healthy life. And most fish also require a heater.

All eels found in the aquarium trade are warm water species and will require both filtration and a heater.

no, eels like room! get a big tank. if the fish bowl you are on about is about 5 foot then that will be fine but if not then i suggest an oblong or square tank atleast 3-4 foot long.

no, it isn't, t wont have anywhere to swim and will die soon. I don't really like fish bowls that much even those big ones with air filters with everything. A good sized aquarium that you can keep just about every fish in (not at once) is a 20 to 29 gallon tank. Im getting one of these soon and i think it will look great.

I strongly advise against it. Eels can grow very large (it depends on what kind your eel is), so you are probably better off in a large aquarium tank.

I have kept a Fire eel in a 300L tank and he still grew to large for the tank, so the answer that you are looking for is definitely NO
