An older generation started coining those addictive phrases, just as the current trend is to start a sentence with the word OK or Like.

Teenagers have a terrible reputation of using these words, but many adults continue the habit too.

The important part of recognizing a speech problem is to curtail the obnoxious habits and develop better ways to communicate.

The person does not want to be taken to seriously and is probably light hearted. It's annoying when EVERY sentence ends with "lol" (laugh out loud) but maybe they think everything is funny?

Hey, come and join me, I've got nothing better to do for the moment. We could track him/her down, kill the person (3rd person singular - he, she and it) and dismember the body, bury it where the moon always shines, with a stake through the heart and a vigorous garlic plant growing over the coffin, or maybe just bring the person into contact with the wealth of the English language. Yuh? Is a gaz, init?

Other people start off a sentence with OK.

Don't forget such annoying phrases like "sort of like", "me personally", "at the end of the day", etc.

The best people at talking balderdash are Soccer players and Managers, sort of like, [twitch], yeh.

Well,
And all TV reporters say when "over to so&so" they say "Well, ..."
Folks who say "you know" all the time are doing it while they think. As in "Erm"
No, we don't blooming well know until you say something.
As for "I mean", well, erm, you know, I mean that ........etc"
As for who started it, well, you know what I mean, erm, .
I will have to think about that before speaking.
Not really, but there you go.
