To break into the appraisal business, you are going to have to put in long hours cold calling mortgage companies. From what little I know of this through my cousin, who owns her own mortgage broker company is that they use the same appraiser whenever possible.

So what you need to do is to get on the list at these mortgage companies, by marketing yourself to them, similiar to an outside salesman making cold calls to these businesses.

First of all, what are your license requirements? Do you have to log in so many hours under a licensed appraiser? Here in Michigan, you do. I'm sure your instructor you had told you the process or call the Licensing Bureau on your state to find out.

It's an awesome business, I love it. Best of Luck, and Merry Christmas.
