Am I to take it that The Wedge is an example of Australia's high culture? Sure the Americans have made some pretty lame comedies over the years, but at least they understand that you have to put jokes in them. Some guy waving away imaginary flies isn't a joke.

And what culture would that be? The stealing of the lands from the Aborigines or the slaughter of them or perhaps it's the racial inequality of the country towards them. Australians do not treat non-Anglos any better than Americans. That culture is no better and no worse than the American culture. So many countries are ready to toot their horn the loudest but have just as many skeletons in their closets!

I think that opinion is up to each individual person. Personally, I don't think any culture is better or worse, they are all different and they are different for reasons. In the true spirit of diversity, accepting those differences and going from an objective standpoint that we are all here for basically the same purposes helps with not thinking any one is better or worse, but more on terms of who needs more help right now to improve their situation.
