Because they have no spine.
Look at NZ or SA - when they are getting beaten they dig in and keep trying regardless of the situation. I love it when they come over because you know there will be a contest. England only win when it comes easily to them, if they have to fight they simply couldn't be bothered.

England are not crap at cricket. It would probably help somewhat if the English press and the cricket fans actually got behind their team for once instead of mauling them whenever they lose. It amazes me how many people accuse the Australians of being bad sports when the English (media and fans) are the quickest to savage themselves when they don't win.
I'm Australian and of course I am elated we won, when welost the Ashes last year I was disappointed, but certainly didn't rip the team apart and accuse them of being "crap". Moreover, I was quite happy for England to win and glad to see the improvement in their side.
It seems to me anyone who labels their team 'crap' just because they didn't win and also accuses the winning side of being "un-sportsman like" shows a distinct lack of sportsman-ship themselves. Get over it - England will bounce back and when they do, support them properly, don't just jump on the bandwagon when they're winning

Quite simply England are crap at most of the sports we created.
Take for instance Football we are not as good as our press would have you believe.
Rugby - One World Cup doesn't make us a good side.
Tennis - There hasn't been a World Number 1 from Britain for decades.
Table Tennis - No British people are in the Top 20 Players in the World.
The major problem I see is that children are taught that "it's the taking part that counts". As a child my Dad said to me that this opinion was rubbish and whoever came up with it was probably a loser and the last person to be picked for any sports team.
The Australians don't only want to beat England they strive for total domination and try to make their opposition look like a complete joke.
It's not just a winning mentality that is required, we need to strive to destroy and embarrass the opposition. In England we all to often try merely not to be beaten that is not good enough!!

The game is not understood properly by teachers and therefore not taught well in schools. Another reason is that the game is too elitist in England and Wales. It is still seen by too many involved as a gentleman's game and one ought to come from a particular social circle. These two factors severely limit the talent pool available to the sport in the UK.
Until the game is taught properly and accessible to all, English cricket will remain inferior to the likes of India, Pakistan and Australia.

Because we are over paid and treat the game like a job and not a sport or passion, causes players especially footballers to lose touch with reality and people who have real heart and determination, everyone should get a 50% refund on tickets and wages should be slashed 50% if they dont perform! but mostly because of our terrible selection of managers, that are living in the past!

Most of England Players are presently outof form completely. Due to this and also injury to some of their key players, performance of England Team is pathetic at present.

Our top order are in terrible form and we are relying on KP and Collie plus the tailenders for most of our runs. Also we have not had many practise matches, so that is a reason for the loss of form.
