I've always loved drag performance, and now I want to do it myself.
I'm just worried that it's so catty and competitive... all I want to do is be fabulous on stage, I don't want to fight with anyone!
Does anyone know how to get started doing drag???

Well, first you have to get a car that has a good engine that you can build on. Preferably a muscle car from the 60's. Then you begin to add a better carbuerator after having the engine balances and blueprinted. And good transmission and 4:11 positraction would be good as well. You haven't driven a good muscle car until you have positraction on it.

Then you have things like roller-lifters and racing tires, you know, things that are not designed for driving to work and back.

Gas prices are high, so good luck with feeding the beast.

Just trying to help. ( ;

As far as the drag scene goes, I don't know about the dynamics. But I've hung out with alot of gay men and I'be been to West Hollywood--I think gay men involved in t\"the scene" are more catty than the popular cheerleader chicks in high school.

Getting started....practice at home. Make sure you know how to apply make-up and walk in heels. Invest in a good wig. Have one of your girl friends help you decide what works for you.

Actually doing it certainly shows confidence and bravery. You go, girl !

OK, first you have to get a pretty fast car.

You'll want GREAT tires, because drag is all about acceleration and stuff.

It's also important to get a couple guys to sponsor you, do you have a local Hooters? Their logo looks cool on a car.

And avoid pearls...they're way too Barbera Bush.

Well, I'm sure the best way to do it would be like doing anything else... find someone who's better at it than you (which isn't difficult when you're a novice) and learn all you can from them.
