Love
Happiness
Contentment
Sorrow
Gratitude

While love is often the source of my happiness, there are other sources, and to feel those as well would be nice. Contentment isn't as big as happiness, but it's a comfortable and pleasant state to be in. Without sorrow, once in a while, the other two emotions don't have a barometer to be compared with. Gratitude is the last, because I would be so grateful to feel these things without some of the emotions not listed, that I would like to do without, such as guilt, shame, fear, insecurity.

Some hold the view that meditation is best done after sexual [not physical] exhaustion. The mind is most calm after climax.

Others hold the view that meditation is best done after having smoked something or snorting it. Having cleared the air of the most modern conventions in meditation, lets go through the traditional:

Patanjali states that it is best to observe meditation in the same place and have a constant timing for it. It is best done in a quite place which is devoid of other human beings or predatory animals. It is best to do it when it niether too cold or too hot.

You should assume an asana that allows for the observation of maximum bandhas (yogic asanas try to manipulation the blood circulation throughout the body, the places where you attempt to slow it down by applying pressure is known as bandha). The lotus position allows bandha at the groins and this is known as the mula banda. By contracting the throat and placing the chin at the distal end of the throat you achieve jalandhara bandha.

In this position it is best to have the back completely straight where all the curves of the spine are accentuated in their respective directions.

Now concentrate on a clear light that is in a coiled state at the navel. As it uncoils it passes through the genitelia and makes a u-turn to the coccyx. From here it slowly goes up, stopping at the navel (once again), the lower end of the heart, the upper part of the heart, the throat, between the brows, and from there above the cranium.

The aforementioned process is known as bhuta shuddhi.
