I just think that in this modern age, something could be added to washing up liquid to take away the stains whilst they are being washed. I know that a dish washer does this but I can't afford one. Has anyone any easy answers.?

washing up liquid is a detergent. It will clean but not get rid of stains. Get a box of soda crystals next time you go shopping and add a tablespoonful into your washing-up bowl. this will help loosen the stains on your cups and also help degrease anything stuck to your dinner plates.Give them a quick rinse under the tap before draining.
It is safer than using bleach, which if isnt rinsed off properly can cause harm.

Bleach is fantastic for getting rid of tea stains in mugs. Put all your stained cups in the sink, fill up with hot water and add a few capfuls of bleach. Then wait a few hours and when you come back they should be really clean. Just remember to wash everything thoroughly afterwards - you don't want your next cuppa tasting of bleach!

I drink gallons of strong black tea each day and at the end of the day the cup is black! I simply put salt in the cup and give it a rub with a cloth, or even a scourer and presto, clean as new!

Actually, those stains are tanins, which are supposed to be quite good for you.

To get rid of them just use some sodium bicarbonate and a scourer - works a treat!

Salt or bicarbonate of soda on a damp cloth, rub, and the stains will dissappear.
