I wish I knew the answer, but I have noticed that people who are self-centred and have big egos are not happy.

I just try to keep occupied and maybe creative (music, painting, writing) and try to leave the house in time so as not to miss the hourly bus.

I always thought being with the person you were in love with was true happiness. I think I still believe this. But if this person breaks your trust then what do you do? You're f#cked.

Philosphical meanderings are something of an indulgence of the well fed. I try to count my blessings, appreciate friends, be glad I'm not on the streets in the cold, and hungry.

I have a life that many (diseased, very poor etc) would be very glad of. I need reminding of this.

True happiness can not be bought and can not be found in material things. A car or house can make you feel a sense of satisfaction for a short time only to be replaced with another material desire. True happiness is living a purpose filled life. In order to do that you must first find who you are and what you are designed to do in this life. People go wrong by trying to fit themselves into careers, professions, and relationships not intended for their personality or design. You must be content with the answer once to find yourself...the person you were created to be. True happiness will then become consistant in your life driven by passion that motivates your steps to remain in true happiness. Living in truth brings true happiness.
And if that fails...try buying an ice cream cone.

It is difficult to know what happiness is if you are a single soul. Sometimes, we doubt if we are really happy, sometime sadness feel like bliss, sometimes sorrows bring relief and sometimes in the moments of perfect delight shades of darkness start to descend. This is hard question to ask someone and it is difficult to find definition of perfect happiness in books. To define a state of perfect happiness without a doubt is impossible. If happiness is something somewhere then it is acceptance in your very heart, and in your life. Happiness can be in the heart indeed, but it can also be in the mind. I have seen people living their lives alone just the way they chose to live, but not happy without a higher purpose or a good reason to their solitude. Most people induce happiness from on another, in the company of likeminded people around them.

The fact is that the best things in life are as dreams and illusions that we need to realise with our own efforts into a life of reality we share with one another. The happiness is one of these things – an illusion, which we need to realise. The things we do and achieve in our life we expect that they should make us comfortable and happy, but often we end up unhappy and dissatisfied despite having all. We then think what is happiness, why are we not happy? This question is true, and quite pertinent at all moments in life. But an answer is never universal. The answer to this question is always peculiar, personal to each of us. In my experience, however, I know I am genuinely happy when I am able to share my happiness with other people I love and care; if I am able to make other people happy the I would know that I have happiness in my heart. However this is one thing that I would not like to do all the time, this is the problem, you see. This nevertheless is the only way to know for sure. To be able to see if you are happy you need to see your own self in the mirror of real people in your life.

I can't tell you that cause true happiness is something entirely different for every single person.
One man's happiness may not be the same as another person.
Only you know what would make you happy therefore only you can answer the question and find the answers.

Humans basically cannot live without love and happiness. Love and happiness are like oxygen for human beings.
Love and happiness are the most basic things that everyone should have in their life. Many people look like that they are very very happy, but truly -behind the curtain- they are unhappy....

Many people pretend to be happy inside them while they really don't. This because happiness and love are very important. Until most people often fake themselves, pretend to have love and happiness in their life, because they do know happiness and love are very substantial for human longevity....

Because no matter how great you are,
no matter how talented you are,
no matter how great your job is,
no matter how influential you are,
no matter how famous you are,
no matter how rich and wealthy you are,
no matter how successful you are,
no matter how many things you've achieved in your life,
no matter how powerful you are,
no matter how perfect your family is,
no matter how perfect and flawless your lover is,
no matter how beautiful and handsome you are,
no matter how religious you are.....

IF you don't have the real purity of love and happiness inside you, then practically none of those things mean anything to you.
The only things that could bring you happiness are the state of your soul, the way that you treat people and the pure love that you have in your heart.... it's true.

Well there are ups and downs all through life. Happiness is a temporary feeling just like lonliness or grief. No one is happy 24/7 but when you try your best and give 100% with all that you do, that can lead to happiness with yourself.

Happiness is something that is unique to you, by that I mean what it takes to make you happy will be somebody elses idea of hell. Find out what makes you happy, for me its walking, drawing, spending time with family, watching comedies, living a simple life, eating helathy food. First I had to work out what made me happy, then set about doing it regularly. I made lists - what do I like to eat, drink, smell, do, touch etc. Once you know what makes you happy - achieving it is a doddle. Good luck.

just have strong faith in your heart that you will find the path that leads to true happiness .envision the happiness that you want and imagine you are placing it in a bubble ,let the bubble go into the universe .then one day ,when the time and setting are right it will come back to you .just believe .and ofcourse be absolutely honest without yourself when distinguishing between your wants and needs .catering to your needs will most likely result in true happiness .

Perhaps, true happiness is being satisfied with what you have.

Cultivate your rational soul by pondering the laws of nature. Learn to tell the difference between what you can change and what you cannot. Act accordingly, with moderation in all things.

"Happiness is a direction, not a destination."

Like I answered some queries like this, "All happiness is in the mind" (English Proverb) since the mind is the heart of the matter, in other words, you can find your true happiness in your mind by means of practical, everyday philosophy or some religious practices like meditation.
