Keep the air on "fresh", not "recirculate" if you have that option. Try cracking a window open a little. Make sure the vent controls are set to the windscreen. Try Rain-X. Look for any leaks into the car.

Clean all the sh*it and muck off the inside of the glass, and make sure you haven't got a water-leak into the hatch area of the car. Mondeos leak in through the rear light units and hatch seals. If it's a saloon, it's still the light units and boot lid seal that needs inspection. Make sure the carpets aren't wet, and if they are, find out why, and get it fixed.

Wouldn't hot air then just steam the windows up as opposed to misting them up?
I always use cold air on just the windscreen, with windows down a crack until all is well, apart from me, who by this time is f***ing freezing ;)

usually you cant on older cars but if you can ,lift the carpet and check for dampness because if you have a water leak getting into your car it will fog up easier, have seen this a lot working as a mechanic people complain that there heater isnt working properly because it wont clear the windows but its the fact that the underlay in the carpet is soaked wet causing excessive fogging/damp in the car

Now I'm not kidding 'soapy' but I have heard that you should rub a little un-diluted washing up liquid all over the inside of your screen, and it stops the misting up. Haven't tried it though.
