Had such a terrible dream that a psycho midwife induced my labour and my baby died!! it sounds crazy and of course I don't believe it will come true but it left me so shaken when I woke this morning. My dreams have become very vivid and real like, it's getting to the point that I am afraid to sleep and when I do eventually drop off I always have a nightmare now sometimes two and not necissarily to do with the baby. Is this something I should see my Doctor about? I am exhausted throughout the day from lack of sleep but what could he do? if anyone else has experienced this does it pass?

with my first i had bad dreams about birth and family members etc, they were horrid, but they got worse with my 2nd and 3rd babies, i used to dream about horrible things happening to my other children. so upsetting it affected me for ages after. ive heard they are quite common, so theyre nothing to worry about hun, although that doesnt stop you feeling like c.r.a.p when you have them. xxx hope you dont get any more.

Vivid dreams while pregnant is a very common thing. Your body is going through a hormonal roller coaster. They will become fewer as time go's by but ...... as a mom of 6 I still find myself having very vivid dreams. Not all the time but they do happen. you will be fine. Do speak with your OB doctor though. He can give you some ideas on how to settle your self enough to get a good nights sleep. I am not sure but I don't think that they can give you anything to help you sleep better while pregnant or nursing. It will get better. Congratulations I hope you have a wonderful and uneventful pregnancy. I copied an address for you to check out. Good Luck!

I have been having them to. The same thing that my baby dies or someone takes her. All types of things I think it is just the cons that come with mother hood. I am 39 weeks pregnant now and I am still having bad dreams. I think we just have a mothering instinct and don't want anything to happen to our kids. The anxiety is worse when you are pregnant because of your hormones so your dream about crazy stuff, but if you start having dreams that you are killing the baby or thinking when your baby comes out you might hurt it then I suggest you see a doctor. When you do give birth you should probably talk to someone because it can get alor worse with postpartum. Well good luck and don't let it bother you its just a dream, but i know how hard that can be I freak out to. Congrats on the baby and try to get some sleep.

I had horrendous nightmares when I was pregnant too. Dreaming about murders committed in front of me and I was powerless to help, and dreaming that I was killing people too. Very violent and scary as hell. During the last few weeks of each pregnancy I dreamt that something was wrong with the baby, that I'd had it but it wasn't in my life and I was always looking for it.
I've always had vivid dreams though - just they were so much worse during pregnancy so I'm pretty sure hormones has a lot to do with it. Try to concentrate on something pleasant before you go to sleep and don't eat a lot before you go to bed - not a cure but it can help. Good luck and take care x

I had extremely vivid dreams when I was pregnant with my son. They were actually kinda cool most of the time because they were so colorful and real. Most of them were good dreams but a few were bad probably because of worry about the baby being healthy. I have read that vivid dreams are very normal during pregnancy.....just try to put you anxiety away and relax more. Your dreams are a way for your subconscious to communicate with you. I think it's telling you that you have some apprehension...try to relax.

i had this to when i was pregnant. i think it's because your going through a big change in your life right now. things you aren't necessarily thinking or worrying about during the day are coming out in your dreams. you are probably anxious about the impending birth and your baby being ok. try not to worry it will pass. i found it really terrifying and also didn't want to sleep. i used to dream my baby would come out with things horrifically wrong with it or that i wasn't pregnant at all. my baby is now 7 months and the most gorgeous little person i have ever known. good luck with everything x

Native American Shamans say the womens' dreams come through their womb. Female warriors make the best dreamers for this reason.
Try to take control of your dream and face up to your fears within the dream world. This will help to remove all your fears from the "real" world.
Remember that you cannot come to any harm in the dream world but fears can damage you in the "real" world. That's why dreams are the ideal place to face fears.

I think nightmares are common although these are obviously distressing you which isn't good. I'm not sure that your doctor could do too much. I would suggestion using some relaxation techniques before you go to bed - try yoga, milky dreams, camomile tea. I'm sure there's lots on the internet about ways to improve sleep without pills.

It is REALLY REALLY REALLY common. I'm 5 months, and have these nightmares, too. I had them basically every night with my first. It's because you're nervous about being a mother. With my second, I was dreaming that my first was trying to kill the baby. It was because I was nervous about having two kids, and nervous about my first's feelings. With this one, I dream BOTH of them are trying to hurt, kill, sell the baby! It's scary, but very common.
