I think they have to wear gloves a lot and/or wash their hands a lot, so maybe some really good lotion? Burt's Bees makes great stuff like that, you can get gifty stuff of theirs at Borders book stores, Hallmark stores sometimes, and other gifty stores.
Either way I would go with something that seems fitting to her profession/your relationship to her.

Get her a Christmas card signed by the ferrets (get a stamp pad and do their paw prints) Maybe a $20 gift certificate to blockbuster or a restaurant, or movie passes. It really depends on her personality. Ask the receptionist what the vet likes - the receptionist usually knows a lot of things like that. OR you could get food for the whole staff - but don't get the standard generic Christmas cookies from the grocery store bakery with frosting and sprinkles and don't do popcorn tins like everyone else does. Be original, get them Bagels from Panera with choices of Cream Cheese or Really Nice Christmas Cookies from a really nice bakery or something like that. (make sure they actually taste good, sample one before you buy - you'd hate to spend $20 on cookies that are disgusting!) Check with Dairy Queen, if you have one around there, they have lots of choices of pictures that you could put on an ice cream cake, or call up to the office and take an order on everyone's favorite kind of DQ Blizzard flavor and then deliver them that afternoon. Think outside of the box a little bit. Have a very Blessed Christmas

The best thing you can give a vet for x-mas, is a video card rental at any video store. I know because after a long day at work , i like to see a movie to enjoy that night . its under $20.00 and you don't have chose nothing thing ,the vet will do that .

I think that the chocolates would be great. If you feel that that is not enough get something engraved a small paperweight with a engraved statement like
thank you for the time and care you alway give
your name.
