I'm 44 now - if I live to see 80 it'll be 2042. Could the Rangers pull it off by then?

First things first, they need to move the walls back about 20 feet. Does it hurt the offense, sure a little bit, but I think Texiera can mash in a bigger field too. They have a solid pitching staff, they just play on a high school field and that's the biggest issue. The offense is solid and has kept them in the hunt late into the season the last few years, but without a solid pitching core it's never going to happen.

Having both Otsuka and Gagne to round out the bullpen helps. I think if they can move the walls back a bit and make one or two solid moves to cobble together the right mix of veterans and youngsters, they Rangers can be a very competitive team.

PS: Barry Zito is NOT the guy to put them over the top.
PPS: When Carlos Zambrano is a free agent next year...he IS the guy who could do it, assuming they move the walls.

I love baseball, and it's my primary source of sports knowledge, but I'll be the first to admit...

Baseball is the most "by chance" sport there is. Any team could pull off a world series appearance, and/or victory in any given year if they have a "decent" roster.

You need only look at recent history. The Diamondbacks better than the 01 Yankees? The Marlins winning 2 of the last 10 world series? The Angels...come on...And hell, the Angels played the Giants that year.

The Tigers made the world series this year, and probably wont make it back for 50 more. It's the TIgers, ya know? It was one of those fluke seasons, like the 2001 Mariners.

I could certainly foresee the Rangers, considering they have a decent payroll, putting together a team that clicks at the right time, wins a few games in October and makes an appearance in the Fall Classic.

The 1996 international sequence between the Yankees and Braves. The Braves have been heavy favorites going into the sequence and incredibly gained the 1st 2 video games. After being destroyed 12-a million & 4-0 the Yankees finally regrouped and gained the subsequent 4 video games to seize their first international sequence championship in 18 years. It replaced into the beginning up of four international sequence championships in 5 years.

No, because you will never have enough pitching to win. When the Home Run Derby decides the World Series in 3042, then the Rangers will win.

As another Rangers fan, I hope so!! What we need is pitching and better management.

Our management has made horrible decisions over the years. I think we have potential. I really do. Consistency and better leadership is what it'll take for a World Series trophy.

I will pull for them, I'm 47 and hope to see this happen. I also like the vikings in the NFL. They have been to the superbowl 4 times and choked or got stomped every time! Never give up on your favorite team, never switch to a team other than your own. Be proud of them thru thick and thin! your pal in sports, JB

if the texas rangers would get their acts together and started using some common sense when it comes to picking players in free agency and the draft especially when it comes to dollar and cents then maybe you guys could win one while you're still alive

If you can get good pitching to come down there, that'd be a start. Keep the faith! After all, the Red Sox won a title so you know ANYTHING is possible...

I got to see The White Sox win it.
I do hope I get to see them win it again before you get to see the Rangers win it though.
