At school I always had trouble finishing exams on time, I was always last to be dressed after P.E. ... Now I'm usually last to leave work, and it takes me at least an hour to get ready in the morning. Last weekend I helped a friend paint his walls and he did about 50 times more than I managed in the same time... etc. etc.
I do have great patience, and I do produce quality (I'm a perfectionist). I'm great with things that need careful attention to detail. Sometimes that's good, but usually it's like a big handicap because immaculate results are not required whereas speed is. Therefore, I would like to be able to do things more quickly, but I just don't know how. Can you help me? Or share with me some of your experiences related to being slow / becoming faster?
I'm looking forward to reading your answers. Thank you very much!!!

may be you should be slow at times when required. perfectionist- good.
but in some cases you need to get quicker.
a week of busy schedule can help you to a certain extent.
try to do something usefull than wasting huge time on one thing . finish such things as soon as possible. neednt be perfect in all.

Your second paragraph explains it. I can be a perfectionist too, so I know what you mean. Something that may take someone else a second to do, will take me a couple of minutes and the same with my thinking, that is where I wonder about myself. I may take a month or so to figure something out, but at least I feel that I make the best decision. Whereas someone else may decide on the same thing in a matter of hours or minutes. Hope this helps.

pretend you have less time instead of more
people don't want perfection they want speed they sacrifise profection for it that way they can produce more crap that way we can buy more crap why do you think the warranty runs out. then the next day the product breaks thats after you purchase the extended warrenty you think if Mc Donalds wanted perfection they would be where they are today nope they can't sell over a billion hamburgers if they are worried about perfection they thrive off people that rush through there day in order to make enough money to go buy more crap that is just going to break or so they can get a wrong order at Mc Donalds because they rushed it there is a saying good enough for goverment work THATS JUST HOW IT IS RIGHT NOW people go to work to rush though it to make money to buy more crap go through you house see how much stuff you have that you have not used in the last month see how much crap you bought think of how much you used it before you stopped my advise to you is to look and see if you can find a happy median between the work you do and how fast you do it otherwise they will just get someone who can do it faster expirence will give you the power to do it fast and well

Lol. Omg, you sound exactly like me!
The good part is I think we'll both live longer. For instance, I even eat slowly, but that's supposed to be good for the digestion.
You have a high percentage of best answers. You probably take a while and are very thoughtful with them, too. All good things.
I'll come back and put more in later. Just wanted to relate.

I disagree with you. Just looking at your answers, I can tell you would be an asset to an employer that needs a worker who pays extreme attention to detail, and has excellent focus. Plus, from some of your answers on here, I can tell you are highly intelligent. You are who you are, and I would not consider you to have any kind of handicap whatsoever. Speed is never a requirement in life, unless you're doing a job that requires you to be fast at something. However, there are plenty of jobs that do not. If your slow pace is an issue with you being late to work, then make sure you give yourself ample time to get ready. It takes me 45 minutes to get ready for work, and I'm a guy!
Take care, and stay possitive about yourself.

To be a perfectionist is a very difficult thing to achieve, not everyone can do it, just as not everyone can be as quick as the speed painters, you have found your niche, now the trick is to apply your talent to a pursuit where it is valued, accountancy, proof reading, technologist of any sort, these perfectionist traits are valued as an asset, not a drawback, its about how you see yourself, your perception, my advice would be to work to your strenghs. regards LF
