If I perform a system software upgrade on my PSP, will i still be able to play my older (legally bought) games

My PSP is currently on version 2.60. I just bought Tekken - Dark Resurrection, and before I can play it it's telling me I need to upgrade to version 2.71 or something like that. If I do upgrade my system software, will this affect the PSP's ability to run the previous games I have bought? I bought all my other games fairly recently. I've only had the PSP for a few months.

Yes you will but just to be safe get the new software update 3.02 it is amazing.
