Actually they are usually referred to simply as larvae.
The don't really have a common name like Tadpoles or anything else. Waterdogs or mudpuppies are actually a type of salamander, and are not larvae. Mudpuppies are peculiar because they retain the features of the larval salamanders even through adulthood, they are what are called Neotenic. Tiger salamnders (waterdogs) can actually choose to remain as the larval form into adulthood or can become a terrestrial adult, its actually pretty cool, the aquatic stage in tiger salamanders are called Axotls.
