S$1500 is pretty suffiecient for decent living in Singapore.

Since you usually eat home-cooked food, you'd save money from buying takeaways.

But is S$1500 your entire take-home pay? There won't be a CPF contribution for you as you're a foreigner.

Anyways, keep some, spend some and welcome aboard!

well, i dont think $1500 is enough especially to a foreignor. so manage wisely. singapore is a place where you cant really save you know. what you get is just enough and every time you gotta keep waiting eagerly for the next pay day. even for uneducated person to a freshly graduated person from national university of singapore the basic pay here is $800 to $1200 only. so, just letting you know and have a clear idea about expenses and cost of living and standard of living here is very very high. especially GST, general sales tax as i have said to your other question when it increases in february all will feel the pressure. also, health care, touchwood hope nothing happens. but after few months, preference would be given for singaporeans and permanent residents only and no subsidies for foreignors. but in emergency of course priority will be given but need to bear the full price. so for a simple life minimum $3000 is required here. well, you can remain without smoking, drinking, non vegetarian food etc ... but still money isnt sufficient.

For a simple life, S$1500 is ample. Vegetarian food may not be cheaper, but since you are able to cook your own meals, you will somewhat save some money. I would imagine the S$1500 is your takehome pay,
