my 51 plate diesel clios pre heat light came on the other day when the car had already started. Two days later the car refused to start, have changed one heater plug, having trouble with the others at the moment. Now the heater light is not coming on at all. Do you think this may be a problem with the relay rather that the plugs. Or has anyone had this same problem please help.

With all respect to all the guys who answer questions on cars, you will notice like others do that you get lots of different answers. My answer and to be honest is, if you ever have any weird fault whatsoever with your car, the best thing to do is to approach your local dealer for your type of car, they are the people that know your car inside out, you could be spending ages on here asking, or spending a fortune using a local garage that has no experience of any weird probs with that type of car.
I have heard of people having their cars butchered by local garages who havent a clue how to remove or fix certain parts, ok you may think that main dealers are costly, but they will give you a special rate if you are just an ordinary guy like me, big companies pay the going rate. What people with no idea on the fault costing you say £20 per hour labour and spend all day scratching their heads costing you a packet, or you take it to a main dealer who may charge you £30 per hour and fix it in 5 minutes, sometimes when you report the fault to the main dealer and they recognise you as an ordinary guy, they may either do the fix for free if its a 2 min job or tell you how to do it if it is an easy fix, see what i am getting at?
Ok there are times even the main dealers are puzzled unless someone with the same prob has a possible remedy, I am not saying dont use this service, all i am saying is its a good idea 2 try main dealer first as they are the guys who know your car best.

Please let me know if I have hyelped you.

If you haven't replace the other glow plugs you need to. They, were all put in at the same time. If the relay wasn't working, it would still not start, because the glow plugs would not be getting juice.

I would say you either have a relay or a wiring problem from the relay. You need a voltmeter and should start checking the circuit.

definitely the relay, easy to replace, only cost £15. Had same problem, that fixed it

I call them glow plugs.. change themm all. they burn up after awhile.. ur problem should solve itself if u do. a relay is not the problem. it would either work or not with a rely. u can change if u want.

the two problems are not related, the alternator charging light is red and adjusting or renewing the belt may sort out the problem. The orange light is the light that tells you that you have a fault with one of the engine sensors, to sort this out you will have to take the car for a diagnostic
