As for me, I keep meditating myself on what I've succeeded and taken pride modestly and find something to do so that I'm busy and thus have little time to get depressive. Moreover, regular physical exercises at least 3-4 days a week, I mean aerobic ones, each being at least 20-30 minutes or more, it depends on your interest and endurance. I like jogging, playing badminton, fast walking, etc. in the morning and in the evening. The exercises will help you sleep better and longer. You should have some close friends to talk to so that it's a good way to release your depressed thinking/ways of doing things in everyday life. If you don't feel better, please visit a doctor specialized in depressive disorders who may provide you with some medication and you'd be fine soon. I didn't have to consult a psychiatrist, I think it's another solution for a special case.
Take care.

I divide my depression in three levels :

1. If it is a minor attack & I feel like angry on collegues / Loose interest in work etc. , Then I just flow with it . It goes away in 2-3 days.

2. If it is a moderate level attack in which I wish to cry like a baby & wanna do nothing etc....I do a lot of writing . U dont know the power of a diary . Writing down your thoughts & feeling ( Whatever crazy they may be , don't care , just write then down ) gives a biiiig relief .

3. If It is a Major Attack where I can not think anything properly and feel that brain has crashed out and suicidal thoughts cover my mind...There are 3 ways to fight it :

---Trust in God ( Spirituality Helps..Just Hand over your burdern to dear God)
--- Your Will / Inner Courage .
--- A true lover who catches us when we fall .
( Can be anyone... your dad / mom / sis / bro / friend / lover... )

Don't confused being depressed with feeling down in the dumps.
Depression is a serious illness. Seek help from your doc and he'll prescibe anti-depressants. They work.
Being down in the dumps is different. Everybody feels this way from time to time, like I do right now as I type this gibberish out. But hey, maybe answering your question has given me a lift.
Who knows?

Fist, just wallow in it. Listen to sad music and bum around for a bit - a little depression is normal.

To get out of the funk, you need loud, hard music and physical activity. Put some hard rock or rap in your headphones and either hit the gym, or go for a run. You will feel like a new person!

It depends on the reason why im depressed in the first place, usually lash out at the perpetraitor to start with, cry scream, throw things,.......after ive calmed down some, (even if im still angry...) i put on loud music which usually indicates how im feeling at the time, or i go for a long drive to sort out my emotions and feelings.....drive too fast....(which isnt a good thing) and drink.......(not at the same time).

I did this and it worked. Have all happy thoughts for 3 days. Don't allow anything negative. Throw it out. Since your thoughts attract 'like' putting out happy thoughts builds up fast and the next thing you know your happy. You can choose to be happy regardless of circumstances. If you continue with depressed thoughts your building that too. Make a 'choice' to be happy

I get it into my mind that depression is not real...it is an illusion created in my head. Therefore I can control it, and always remember the good in your life... sometimes finding it is not easy, but when you do it will help to lift you up. Know that you are a person of value, and show your own inner strength.

I would call this idle depression..... yes, it happens quite so frequently, often when nothing urgent is on hand. In such moods, my best remedy is to find something to do... get busy in some unimportant work, or just start walking up and down. That helps take my mind away from such idle thoughts and moods!

Listen to sad music and have a damned good cry. Then have a coffee and go out into the world again to keep my mind off my troubles for a while. (Or do something I really enjoy) Good luck.
