In reference to above comment: Anacondas are not "poisonous" in the least. They are constrictors and squeeze the lungs empty so prey cannot breath. And the term you are looking for is venomous. There isn't a snake in the world that is poisonous. And anacondas and elephents are on two entirely different hemispheres. Elephants are in Asia and Africa and anacondas are in S. America. They are not that big to bite an elephant. And to answer the question, snake girl answered right on the money. But the closest reptiles related to the dinosaurs are crocs. As they adapted they just grew smaller. They are one of the oldest species on the planet. Just like sharks. They are the worlds most efficient predators. 300 million years of evolution and adaption puts them on the top of the food chain.

Anacondas are large semi-aquatic snakes (generally considered to be related to boas) found in South America. There are 4 different species (Eunectes murinus, E. notaeus, E. beniensis, and E. deschauenseei). The green anaconda (E. murinus) is generally considered to be the largest snake on Earth. They are the second largest by length (second to the reticulated python of Indonesia), but they are very thick bodied snakes, so they are considered the largest by weight. They are related to dinosaurs in that they are reptiles, but they're no more closely related than any other living reptile.
