He might...
But Federer (and others) will make sure his road will be long and tough...

uhm... no...
Everyone is saying "not whilst Federer is around"
-----does this not signify that he can never be THE greatest players since if he can't become it whilst Federer is around, he can never be greater than Federer and thereby never be the greatest player ever...??
Might I point out that whilst Federer has improved between the 2005 and 2006 seasons (he won 2 grand slams in 2005 and 3 in 2006 and reached an additional final this year; also won 12 titles this year to 2005's 11) Nadal has dropped considerably (he won the sam amount of grand slam titles, 1, reached an additional final [this being the only improvement] and won only 6titles down from 2005's 11)

Yes, i think so. He's only twenty years old and has already beaten Federer many times! It's mind blowing, really. I strongly believe he can, because of his age. But before he can be the greatest tennis player ever he should try and improve his game. Nadal should know how to play well on hard courts, not just on clay courts. When he learns to do that, he's unstoppable.

Baseliners are very tough to deal with as in the case of Nadal, but history is not with baseliners. When baseliners (counterpunchers) are not on their 100% they can be beaten by any player. Secondly fatigue halts their way. They play longer rallies thats why they feel tired at the end of the week when semis and final are drawing near. So they can enter into semis and finals but winning them never falls under certainity. Thats why I have to say Nadal has to mix up his game with some attacking style of play if he want to overcome the likes of Federer, Berdych and Roddick

right now, he surely can't dominate on all surfaces. a great tennis player doesn't just play good or 'better' on 1 surface. he/she must be able to play consistently on grass, clay, indoor, hardcourt and others in order to be considered as a great tennis athlete. in this case, federer almost reaches his best as he reached the finals of the biggest clay championships this year though beaten by Nadal. but im sure next year, Fed will be ready to fulfil all of his expectations toward winning his first ever Roland Garros title.
It's proven that nadal cant play his best on other surfaces beside clay. he had recorded bunch of early losses on hard court tournaments and couldnt handle his nerves against players like Blake or Berdych.
but it takes time.... Nadal still has many more ways to perfect his game.

Possibly. But he is mainly a clay specialist, which is only where he's beaten Federer. Federer is an all rounder. Nadal won't be Number One when Federer is around.

As long as Federer is there, I don't think he can. Although Nadal has beaten Federer a few times, Federer has beaten him twice consecutively recently.

No!i don't think so.he may win a few more slams but i doubt he will be the greatest ever.he can only be the king of clay for the moment.even he does win all the slams like agassi, the most he can be is the 2nd or 3rd best.=p

i think roddick will before nadal. only because when roddick gets confidence he is very hard to beat. if and when roddick figures out how to stay there then he will blow by nadal, but still not touch federer

Probably... but he'll have to show he can compete on grass and hard courts and not just clay. He's still young, beaten Federer plenty of times... he'll have to learn a bit, claim other majors, beat players he usually loses to.
