(*shrug*) I have never understood people who can veg all day, every day, in front of the television.
My ex was that way, and at 42 he had his first of many heart attacks, and required quadruple bypass surgery. (I was long gone before then). Was there a genetic component to it? Sure, but sitting on his behind for years and being a slug certainly didn't help fend it off.
It has nothing to do with you. You're personalizing his choices in life. He'd be sitting there if you were a super model or the most fascinating person in the world. It's HIS issue, not yours.
YOU, on the other hand, need to get out and do things. Not just hang around the house waiting for him to get a life. You need to find people to walk with, hike with, find a book group, do something that gets you around people who HAVE interests.

Well, tv provides an escape to other realities. From that holodeck on Atari 9 to a private resort beach on Kuwait, it let's a person go far off into another place, without actually going there.
If you feel your husband or boyfriend is taking too much time with the tv than you, talk to him about your feelings regarding it. "It's either the tv, or me!" Or...just hide the remote.

I don't get it either like the saying goes there is more to life than tv.
Maybe you need to find a hobby or something else that interests you.
