'big' girl jewelery is always a big hit! How about a locket, or a charm bracelet ... then you can add charms on each birthday and future christmases! Nice smelly things for her bath .... a range of skin care products for teenagers, a hi-fi system for her bedroom, clothes .... perhaps give her a couple of little things, and then give her a 'homemade' voucher offering her a shopping trip to her favorite store! She may be growing up, but there might be a 'toy', gimmicky thing that she really wants!! Happy Christmas

Why don't you ask her what she wants? Personalities are so different that the generic answer we give isn't going to be worth a whole lot. I would have loved to get the American Girls book collection but was given a huge make-up kit instead.
Very Dissappointing.
Gift cards *SEEM* like a good idea, b/c that enable total flexability, but I had that and wasted it on stupid little things with the thrill of money to spend.
Perhaps you should spend more time with your daughter and get to know her and her interests. You should be her best friend! If you were, this is a question that wouldn't stump you nearly as badly.
Since its a little late for that, what does she spend most of her time doing? Is she a computer person (social or geek)? You may consider some books on what she does on the computer. Does she play outside a lot and ride bikes and go hiking? Some sort of Discovery Channel Exploring toy. Does she like to learn about things? Bugs - Discovery has an awesome bug catcher! Is she dreamy and aloof? Perhaps a journal and pens in her favorite colors, some canvas and paint from the craft store!
Ask her if there is anything she'd like to learn to do, and see if you can find somebody who can give her lessons, or get some materials so you can learn together! Horseback riding lessons? Maybe purchase one, so she can decide if she likes it before buying more...
Good Luck, and remember: Its better to use your imagination than just a catologue!

for a flowery girly girl:try a girly preteen cosmetic kit, with a lipstic(light pink), nail polish (matching), a small stick earing,a bracelet,a eye doe( girls like atleast playing), a rouge ( all kids collection), a funky ring, a matching stick on tatoo(she will thin that you also understand her age)-but choose all these items that will go with sensitive baby skin.
for a tomboy:
her favourite pop star or cine star poster, but decent,
an cds of fav collection, or a walkman, or a radio, or an i pod, or something fnky related to computers, games, books.
see you can put them all in her favourite colour. you can collect similar things for 200 euro. see small things matter big to children.
and girls love to own a lot of funky stuffs now a days.
may be a kit like
comb, brush, soap, cream, bath room slippers, powder, towel, bath bubbles, lip balm, hair oil, ect in a pack
you can see that she is growing..................
PS: it is not how much you spend for her, what you spend should make her hppy, really happy.

Get her something like an iPod, DVD player (and TV if needed), board games, movies, movie tickets, things to do w/ friends, things to fancy up her room, or money to spend shopping.
Good luck, I hope you can find her something good, and something she'll like.
