Jano,

There is a very simple rule to follow to become financially secure (rich). Start saving 10-15% of your income today and put it in an account that you can't have easy access to (like an IRA or mutual fund).

The secret to accumulating wealth is to let money work for you (compounding interest is an example). Second, you need to remember that we all get older and will need to provide for ourselves.

I know way too many people who are in mid-life and are in debt up to their eye balls!! It only gets worst. When you are retired, without having saved for your retirement you will be forced to rely on others.

Who wants to relive the experience of being a teenager with no money, no car, and no way to support yourself.

One final point, what is rich? Some people work at jobs they hate just to have money to buy happiness. Wouldn't it be better to work at a job you like and be happy?

Good luck....

The correct answer is spend less than you make. You don't need to earn a lot of money to get rich, just spend less than you make. Almost anyone can end up with over a million dollars in net worth. Save a minimum of 10% of your income and do not try to "keep up with the Jones". The Jones really have no money, they are in debt up to their elbows.
