i upgraded the memory today, and the computer's acting weird.
when i turn the computer on, it starts up. and when it's time to load startup programs, it will restart again, and it will do "disk check up" and then nothing shows up on screen, or sometimes it will start will few errors popping up

why is it doing that?

could it be b/c i added too much ram memory?
how could too much ram hurt the comupter?

yes, i think so,

i had DDR 512Mb
so i added 512mb DDR ram more.

Have you check that you got the right type of ram chips?
There are different types of ram chips.
Have you got them in the right channels?
Have you got the right size?
If it is too little, then it is not enough for your PC. If it too much, then the stress on Motherboard and CPU will cause damage.
What is the Motherboard limits of ram?
For example: My PC's Motherboard limit is 10.6 GB/s in dual channel mode.

If your computer is not working properly while you are working on it, it could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software.
