Does bad spelling or grammer bother you?
Yes, it does. I am in fact a bit of an O.C. when it comes to this one. I actually expect whoever I am going to end up with to be an excellent speller and someone who is grammatically correct.
In my line of work, knowing the correct grammar IS A MUST, spoken and written. It's funny though because even when I am sending SMS, having an IM conversation, I actually indicate even the punctuation marks just to make sure that whatever I am sending will clearly be understood.
I remember reading an email a long time ago from one of our clients, and I was dismayed somewhat with what she has written because it was poorly done.
I don't want to sound too perfect because I know I am not. There were instances where in my own experience lapses happen, but this happens rarely.

If it is someone who is not all that familiar with English and they are making an honest effort to ask a question and obtain information, it doesn't bother me. If they are being nasty, confrontational and critical and not really asking a question, but ranting, it annoys me. What annoys me the most is the IM style typing where everything is in lower case and every other word is abbreviated. (ur, wat, idk, n, b/c) That's just LAZY and it makes them appear illiterate when they *do* know the language!
